Superstar Jennifer Lopez is known for her impeccable taste in fashion but the 39-year-old committed a rare faux pas when she turned up at a promotional event in Japan wearing clothes better suited to a teenager.

The singer, who caused a stir when she took off her wedding ring for not matching with her outfit, was dressed in a black baggy top, black leggings and ill-fitting white high heels at a event to promote a line of handbags in Tokyo.

The Latina star, who is in good shape a year after giving birth to twins last year, made a failed attempt to look youthful in the casual outfit, the ‘Daily Mail’ reported.

Lopez had dyed her hair to a light shade of brown to and added a fringe to complement the look. The new look was in complete contrast to the formal dresses that the singer has been sporting on the red carpet in recent months.

She also took time to give some fashion tips to her Japanese fans, telling them to "be true to themselves".

Speaking of being true to themselves, I think Jennifer Lopez should heed her own advice. I am not saying that picture is not pretty. Jennifer Lopez has adopted a very Japanese look which will certainly cater to teenage girls.

But I don't expect my sexy diva to dress like that. This is not the Jennifer Lopez which we are accustomed to. We need to see her dressed scantily, flaunting her ample bosom and swaying her lip-smacking posterior.
